October 8th

October 8th, 1945 – Washed. Finished dinner when Mabel, Will & 4 strangers came in for dinner. Got stove moved in – everything upset. Rained again.

Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 – Had a good day. Spent most of it in the woodshop building and painting (I always feel like I have actually accomplished something when I construct and build, even if the project is small). Had a very interesting discussion with one of the faculty this afternoon discussing my current project. She left me with lots to think about. I am grateful for the critical feedback school offers. And then a gathering with some like minded people tonight. No major discussions, but it is good to meet and spend some time with new people. In a lot of ways, everything still feels very new here, yet it also feels very comfortable and familiar.

To be honest, I am not sure what this whole thing is about just yet. At the very least the act of recording my day helps me be more mindful and appreciative of the little things. And maybe life is just made up of the little things. Does anyone really want to know? Do they care? Do I care if they care? All the same, it is good for me to read about your day. I do wonder what you talked about as you sat around the table after dinner, if you ever met those strangers again, why you wrote about the weather as you did. I guess I won’t ever really know. But it’s what I have of you so I will take it.
